Oil Search has exploration activites in Tunisia, through its 100% interest in the Tajerouine Permit, awarded in December 2007 (Oil Search operator). The Tajerouine permit is located in the onshore Tunisian fold belt in the Kef Governorate, Tunisia. During 2011, the company focused on processing and interpretation of the 591 kilometres of 2D seismic acquired over Tajerouine in late 2010. A number of viable prospects were identified and further seismic over the preferred prospect in the Tajerouine block was shot in late 2011. The seismic was used to refine a well location and preparations to drill a commitment well, Semda 1, in the Tajerouine PSC located in the northwest of Tunisia, which had temporarily ceased due to political instability, recommenced. In late January 2013, Oil Search Ltd., Sydney spudded the Semda-1 exploratory well on the eastern part of the Tajerouine production sharing contract in northern Tunisia. Semda marks Oil Search’s first drilling in Tunisia. The Semda prospect has potential recoverable oil of 50-100mmbbls. The Semda prospect is 150 km southwest of Tunis. The primary oil objectives, which are of Cretaceous age, are Aptian Serdj dolomites, Barremian bed bars, and Sidi Aich clastics. Deeper gas objectives are also present. The well’s planned depth was 3,500 m and took 60 days to drill. Oil Search Tunisia Ltd. has 100% interest in the block.
