The Oveja oil field, discovered by Mene Grande Oil in 1942, boasts 13 operating wells. The field is owned by a JV between Uruguay's state oil company Ancap (40%) and Venezuela's PDVSA (60%), which was established to produce oil from the Oveja and Yopales fields. Combined production from both licenses is currently around 3,000b/d, although the partnership expects to increase production.
