Urucu Province, located in the Solimões basin, is the largest producing onshore gas field in Brazil and the third largest state oil producer in the country, with average output of over 50,000b/d. Production includes 10Mm3 /d of natural gas, enough to supply the entire northern region. In 2011 Petrobras announced plans to increase production by building a 140km pipeline to transport gas from the Araracanga field to the Urucu complex. The project also entailed the upgrading and improving its Urucu oil processing facility.
