Project Profile
Value: Undisclosed
Location: Walvis Basin, Offshore Namibia
Area: 2,000km2
Start-up Year: -
Acorn Geophysical have farm-in opportunity relating to the Oranto Petroleum held 2011B/2111A Permit in the Walvis Basin, Offshore Namibia, formerly known as the Ondjou Block. Oranto Petroleum was awarded the permit in 2011. During 2012, 2,000km2 of 3D seismic data was acquired by Polarcus and processed by Fugro Seismic Imaging. An interpretation of the 3D survey (along with vintage 2D data) and a review of the petroleum geology of the area have been undertaken by Greensand Exploration, with encouraging results.
The interpretation confirms the presence, within the block, of the substantial Ondjou - A structure (originally identified in work by NAMCOR) which contains several stacked closures in the Upper Cretaceous. Additional prospectivity is related to the large, long-standing channel system which cuts through the area lying to the North of Ondjou-A, orientated North-East to South-West. There are also good indications of potential exploration upside within the permit area. A farm-out process has commenced and interested parties are invited to visit the Acorn Geophysical UK office in Godalming for a technical presentation and access to the data room.
