Block 15 covers an area of more than 8,000 km2 and sits in water depth of 2,000-3,000 metres. Tullow submitted a successful bid for the offshore Block 15 in the Uruguayan 2nd Bid Round earlier in 2012. Tullow signed the PSC on 5th October 2012, beginning an initial three year phase. Tullow signed an agreement in April 2013 to farm out 30% working interest in the licence to INPEX Uruguay Ltd. This transaction was completed in December 2013. Tullow already completed data collection programme in the block and plans to collect further 3D seismic prior to making a decision. Tullow Uruguay Limited remains the operator with 35% working interest and Statoil obtained 35% in 2016, INPEX Uruguay Limited holds the remaining interest.
