Project Profile

Location: Napo Province, Ecuador

Contract period: 16 years (2016–2031)

The Armadillo field is part of Block 55, located in the eastern province of Napo. It started production in 1997 and was closed in 1999, with a final rate of 409 bopd.

Since August 2012, the fringe field Armadillo was assigned by the Ministry of Hydrocarbons of Ecuador (SHE) Petroamazonas EP, which immediately began proceedings to obtain environmental license and initiate activities in this block. The environmental permit was issued on January 30, 2014. Petroamazonas took over the field in 2012 and production has been at nearly 330 bopd since May 2014.

Using secondary and tertiary methods of enhanced oil recovery on this mature oil field it’s planned to significantly increase the volume of oil production. In the spring of 2015 Belorusneft entered in an agreement with Petroamazonas. It was signed to provide integrated specialized services to optimize production, improve reservoir recovery and to conduct geologic exploration. The 2015-2016 plans include the drilling of nine operating wells, one injection and two exploration wells.
