Perisson Petroleum created by the December 2012 acquisition of Igual Holdings, which was the sole owner of local explorer Morichal Sinoco owns a 100% stake in the 39,927-hectare VMM-17 licence in Tolima province. The independent estimate trebled the oil potential of its acreage onshore central Colombia on the western and northwestern side of the Middle Magdalena Basin, approximately 100 km northwest of Bogota, Colombia. There is a major oil pipeline within 15 km of the western side of VMM-17. A new review from Netherland Sewell and Associates (NSAI) had pegged 350 million barrels in unrisked prospective resources at its VMM-17 block, up from 109 million barrels. NSAI also raised its best estimate for contingent resources on the Middle Magdalena basin acreage to 32 million barrels from a 2012 estimate of three million barrels. The review also added a fourth prospect, Lumbi, to the prior trio of Mendez, Yaguali Updip and Yaguali West.
