Project Profile
Location: Llanos 34 Block, Colombia
Production: 15,000 bopd gross (from 8 wells at Tigana Field) 1,000 bpd of light crude (Chiricoca 1, 2017)
Depth: 11,008 feet (Jacana-3 appraisal well, 2016), 3.39 m (Tigana 4 well, 2016) 3,700 m (Chiricoca 1, 2017)
GeoPark Holdings has flowed oil from a well on its Tua oilfield on the Llanos 34 Block in Colombia. The Tua-4 well was drilled to a total depth of 3,432 metres and a test was carried out using an electric submersible pump in the Gacheta formation, at a depth of roughly 3,280 metres. During the test, the well flowed at an average of 526 barrels of 11 degree API oil per day, with 3% water cut, through a 51 millimetre choke. A second test was also carried out on the Guadalupe formation, at a depth of about 3,260 metres, which flowed 857 bpd of 16.1 degree API oil, with 1.3% water cut, through a 19 millimetre choke. Further production would be needed to determine stabilised flow rates from the well and the extent of the reservoir. The output from the Tua field, which was discovered in July 2012, was currently averaging about 4,800 bpd.
In August 2015, GeoPark Limited made a new oil field discovery following the drilling of exploration well Jacana 1, located on the Llanos 34 Block in Colombia. The Jacana field is located south-west of the large Tigana oil field, following the same fault trend, and appears to be a combination structural-stratigraphic trap. GeoPark drilled and completed the Jacana 1 exploratory well to a total depth of 10,900 feet. Both the Guadalupe and Mirador formations had indications of hydrocarbons during drilling and from electric log interpretation. A test conducted with an electrical submersible pump in the Guadalupe formation, at approximately 10,200 feet, resulted in a production rate of approximately 1,880 barrels of oil per day of 14.9 degree API, with approximately 1.9% water cut. Further production history is required to determine stabilized flow rates of the well and the extent of the field.
In Febuary 2017 GeoPark has made a new oil discovery and expanded the boundaries of an existing field at its Llanos 34 block in Colombia. The Llanos 34 block contains the the Tigana, Tilo, Tua, Jacana and Chiricoca Fields. Testing at the new discovery, the Chiricoca 1 exploration well, produced a rate of 1,000 bpd of light crude, while the Tigana Sur 6 development well produced 1,600 bpd with a net pay of approximately 17 m. The testing yielded water cuts of 9% and 8% respectively, with both reaching a total depth of just under 3,700 m.
Curucucu oil field is located on a new fault trend to the east of Tigana/Jacana fault trend, adjacent to the Jacamar oil field. It is the eleventh oil field discovered by GeoPark since acquiring the prolific Llanos 34 block in 2012, and one of three new oil fields added in 2017.
