Ecopetrol S.A. is the operator of block CPO-10 with 100% interest. The company has proven the presence of hydrocarbons at Cusuco 1, an exploratory well located within the municipality of San Carlos de Guaroa, Meta Province, Colombia. Cusuco 1 is part of the CPO-10 Exploration and Production Agreement of December 18, 2008 between Ecopetrol and the National Hydrocarbons Agency. Ecopetrol holds 100 percent interest in this block. Initial tests carried out on the Cusuco 1 well, using an artificial lift system, yielded an average crude oil production of 140 barrels of oil per day of 13.8 degree API and a water cut of 4 percent. Ecopetrol had already encountered a discovery at Pastinaca in May 2013.
Ecopetrol found hydrocarbons in the third of three oil wells it has drilled in the onshore CPO-10 block as part of a subsequent exploration campaign. The Guainiz 1 well, drilled to a depth of 2.4 km (1.86 miles) reached maximum production of 409 barrels per day during testing which ran from June until July 14, 2013. The well is in the San Carlos de Guaroa municipality. The oil\'s API gravity was 14.4 degrees on average.
The licence for CPO-10 was still being managed under the first and second exploration phase as of April 2016.
