The offshore Chuchupa natural gas field in Colombia\'s La Guajira basin department, in the northeast coast of Colombia and it is operated by Chevron. La Guajira supplies the Colombian market as well as neighboring Venezuela, under an agreement with the Venezuelan government. The companies plan to increase the field\'s output by 12Mf3/d (339,802m3/d) in 2013. Currently, gas production in Colombia is highly concentrated to three fields - offshore platforms Chuchupa A and B and onshore natural gas field Ballenas in La Guajira - and the Chevron-Ecopetrol partnership account for over 60% of gas production. The natural gas fields in La Guajira are located in Manaure, and produce 640Mf3/d of gas. The total investment for the project is US$250 million, while there have been 15 wells drilled so far. The subsea reservoir depth is estimated at around 1,580 metres and the reserves around 70.8 bcm of gas.
