Location: Lower Magdalena Valley basin, in the northern region of Colombia in the Departments of Bolivar, Cesar and Magdalena, Colombia
Area: 2,648 square km

The SSJN-9 block covers an area of approximately 2,648 square km and it is located in the Lower Magdalena Valley basin, in the northern region of Colombia in the Departments of Bolivar, Cesar and Magdalena. This block is 50% Hocol and 50% Maurel & Prom Colombia which is the operator. The SantaFe-1 well was drilled at 8,290’ MD (with Cienaga de Oro Formation as the main target for gas) but the well was dry and it was plugged and abandoned. Exploration and drilling are planned to take place during the second quarter of 2013 toe valuate any frther potential of the block. On 31 March 2011, the Maurel & Prom Group signed an agreement to sell 49.99% of its stake in Maurel & Prom Colombia BV to Pacific Rubiales Energy.
