Block 67 - Marañon Basin is located in Peru\'s Marañon basin. It contains three oil fields: Dorado, Piraña and Paiche. Three discoveries give a total of 217 million barrels of 2P certified reserves. The government declared it a project of national importance in 2009. Its location in a remote and undeveloped area presents major challenges with respect to environmental and social issues and access to infrastructure. In addition, several exploration prospects have been identified and are currently being evaluated. As a result of the appraisal and delineation campaign conducted in 2009 and 2010, Perenco has approved an early production phase, with commercial production set to commence in 2013 and reaching 60 000 bopd within five years. The approved development plan includes the drilling of 190 directional wells from 18 platforms, the construction of processing facilities and the installation of buried pipelines to enter the existing main Oleoducto Nor Peruano pipeline at Andoas, 200 km from Block 67. A full ecosystem study has now been signed with the IIAP (Instituto de Investigaciones de la Amazonia Peruana), to ensure compliance with the highest international standards. The project is designed to have the minimum impact on the environment: all produced water is reinjected, access routes to the field are kept to a minimum and a dedicated communities\' development plan was being integrated into the project from the outset. First oil is expected in the first half of 2013, in line with the development plan approved by Perupetro.
