Petrobras is making plans to spud a new well in the shallow waters of Block BM-C-27 in the Campos basin next year in 2013 to try to unlock oil deposits below the salt canopy. Petrobras and new project partner Queiroz Galvao Exploration & Production (QGEP) intend to drill the Guanabara Profundo well in mid-2013 in the northern portion of the licence, targeting the Cenomanian section of the reservoir. QGEP has entered into an agreement with Petrobras to acquire a minority 30% working interest in BM-C-27, where the maiden Guanabara post-salt discovery was made in 2011 in some 45 metres of water. The partners are currently reprocessing data from a pre-stack depth migration 3D seismic survey carried out in the region.
