The Ipati & Aquio Blocks Project is a project in Bolivia, motivated by the Bolivian government. The blocks are located in the oil-and-gas bearing region of Tarija. In 2010, an agreement was negotiated between Gazprom and Total EP Bolivia regarding the possibility of starting a project to explore and develop hydrocarbons in the Ipati and Aquio blocks. Total will have a 60% stake in the operation, Gazprom 20%; and Tecpetrol, will have 20%. The government was also in talks with Pluspetrol over two new drilling concessions. According to preliminary forecasts, production of natural gas can start in 2013. Production capacity at the Aquio and Ipati blocs is currently estimated at 6.5 million cubic metres a day. That is expected to double to 13 million in 2017 and to 18 million in 2020.

In 2004 the Incahuasi gas and condensate field was discovered within the Ipati and Aquio blocks. C1+C2 hydrocarbon reserves are estimated at some 176 billion cubic metres of gas and 15 million tons of condensate. Total subsidiary Total E&P Bolivie (TEPBo) has encountered gas and condensate at its AQI-X1001 exploration well in the Aquio block in Bolivia. The well has confirmed the northern extension of the Incahuasi structure, which was discovered in 2004 by the exploration well ICS-X1 in the Ipati block. The presence of hydrocarbons was confirmed by a test over a limited section of the formation, which has produced gas and condensate at initial rates of over 500,000 cubic metres per day and 500 barrels per day, respectively. As part of the Ipati/Aquio project, until the end of 2012 it is scheduled to drill three prospecting and exploratory wells and to conduct 3D seismic surveys covering almost 300 square kilometres. The construction of a prospecting well, Incahuasi X1, and an exploratory well, Aquio X2, was completed in 2011.
