Project Profile
Location: Sergipe-Alagoas basin off the coast of Aracaju in the state of Sergipe, Brazil
Start-up year: 2007
Recoverable reserves: 15 million barrels
Water depth: 1,200 - 1,600m
The Piranema field lies in the Sergipe-Alagoas basin off the coast of Aracaju in the state of Sergipe, Brazil. It is operated by Petrobras using Sevan Marine\'s SSP300 platform. The Piranema development consists of several small oil and gas accumulations discovered by wells SES-142, SES-143, SES-147, SES-149 and SES-154. The oil density is between 41° and 43° API.
The exploratorion well 3-PRM-12-SES was drilled in the far north of the Piranema concession area, to total depth of 2,693 m (8,835 ft) in 800 m (2,624 ft) of water.
In March 2010, Petrobras announced it would conduct major exploratory drilling campaign in the Sergipe-Alagoas basin after the preliminary estimations indicated the presence of light oil. Petrobras planned to drill two wells around Piranema field.
The most characteristic aspect of the Piranema development is the production system – a novel cylindrical FPSO.
