Chevron Corp.’s subsidiary, Chevron Morocco Exploration Ltd, signed petroleum agreements with Morocco’s ONHYM for three offshore areas. The agreements cover the Cap Rhir Deep, the Cap Cantin Deep, and the Cap Walidia Deep. Once the award is complete, Chevron will acquire seismic data and conduct studies over the acreage. The areas covers approximately 29,200 sq km with average water depths ranging from between 100 metres to 4,500 metres. Chevron Morocco Exploration Ltd now holds 45% interest in the three areas, alongside ONHYM with 25%. The remaining 30% is held by Qatar Petroleum, which reached an agreement with Chevron Morocco in February 2016.
