The UFN III should be built approximately 25 km from center urban city of Pondicherry, municipality that is located in the extreme east of the state of Mato Grosso do South, the Midwest region of Brazil.
The Tres Lagoas unit will produce ammonia and urea from 2014. It will be supplied by natural gas from the Bolivia-Brasil pipeline. The plant is one of four new fertilizer projects being undertaken by Petrobras to boost Brazil\'s production and reduce imports. By 2015, when the four units are operational, Brazil\'s urea output will be 3.66Mt and demand 4.08Mt. Ammonia production will total 782,000t, making the country self-sufficient in the product. The project will require 7,500 workers during the construction phase and then generate 500 long-term jobs during the ensuing operational phase.
