Corvina oil and gas field is situated in the offshore Block Z-1 in northwest Peru at the southern end of the Gulf of Guayaquil. Proven, probable and possible natural gas reserves are estimated to exceed 85 bcm. 
BPZ Energy originally acquired the block in partnership with Syntroleum Peru Holdings in November 2001, then went on to become sole owner of the block in November 2004 before Pacific Rubiales (now Frontera Energy) acquired a share in 2012.
