Llanos Basin is located in the eastern region of Colombia with the northern limit being the Colombian-Venezuelan border, extending south to the Guaviare River, east to the Guyana Shield, and west to the Eastern Cordillera. It covers an area of approximately 200,000 km2.
More than 1,500 MMBO of recoverable oil has been officially documented in this basin.
Two giants (Caño-Limón, Castilla), three major fields (Rubiales, Apiay, Tame Complex), and more than 50 minor fields have been discovered.
