The Awoun licence area is approximately 80 km southeast of Port-Gentil and covers a gross area of approximately 274,800 acres (1,112 sq km). Koula and Damier are two fields located in the license and were both discovered in 2004. Production from Koula started in May 2010.

Assala Energy: Operator with 60% interest (bought from Shell in 2017)
Addax Petroleum: 40% interest
Contractors:
Wood Group: Five year US$ multi-million contract with Shell, to provide services to four onshore oil fields in Gabon and deliver integrated engineering, construction, maintenance and industrial services to the Rabi, Gamba, Toucan and Koula assets. Effective immediately, the award will provide employment opportunities for around 200 Gabonese nationals.
