Project Profile
Value: US$20 billion
Capacity: 230,000 bpd
Location: northeast Brazil
Start-up year: June 2018
The Abreu e Lima Refinery project involves the construction of a grassroots refinery in north-eastern Brazil. The refinery is expected to have a processing capacity of 230,000 barrels per day. When completed, the refinery would have an annual production of 814,000 cubic meters of naphtha, 322,000 tons of liquefied petroleum gas, 8.8 million tons of diesel and 1.4 million of tons of petroleum coke. Half of the refinery\'s production is expected to come from the Carabobo crude reserves in Venezuela, while the other half would come from Marlim, in the Campos basin. Petrobras and PDVSA, Venezuela\'s state-run oil firm, will provide the crude in equal amounts. Also part of the project is a 9km pipeline which would link the refinery to the Suape port complex that will connect to Transpetro\'s terminal and other distributors in the area.
