The Efficient-1 Gas Exploration Well is located in PEL 637 in the South Australian Cooper Basin. Efficient-1 is designed to evaluate material gas accumulations in the Permian of the Allunga Trough, in the southern Cooper Basin. The well spudded on 16 October 2015 and reached total depth of 3,196 metres on 30 October 2015, with hydrocarbon shows in the target zone. The joint venture will case and suspend the well for fracture stimulation and extended production testing. Efficient-1 is the first of two wells to be drilled in this southern permit as part of Senex’s (the operator) exploration program with Origin Energy. Easternwell Rig 106 has been contracted for the campaign and will drill the second target, Ethereal-1. The wells were identified from the Bauhaus 3D seismic survey and are in close proximity to the Bauhaus-1 gas discovery. Senex is free carried by Origin Energy for its share of expenditure in the current stage of the program. Senex has a 60% in interest in the licence and is the operator, leaving Origin Energy with the remaining 40% interest.
