The Persephone gas field is located in offshore petroleum production license WA-1-L, some 135km, northwest of Karratha, Western Australia, in a water depth of about 126m. The field was discovered in 2006 by the exploration well Persephone-1, which is located approximately 8km north-east of the North West Shelf Project’s North Rankin Complex.

The project involves a two well, 7km subsea tieback from the Persephone field to the existing North Rankin Complex. The total investment for the project is expected to be approximately A$1.2 billion (US$916 million) , with project start-up expected in early 2018.
