The Akela prospect is a four-way dip closed anticline and lies about 11 kilometres north of the Keleary oilfield which has produced more than 1.6 million barrels of oil from the Poolowanna formation, with additional production from the Tinchoo, Birkhead and Hutton. The Akela-1 well is expected to take about 17 days to complete and test. Senex operates PEL 110 with a 60% interest and is partnered by Cooper Enery and Orca Energy which each hold a 20% stake.
