The offshore Ebome exploitation permit covers an area of 539 square kilometres within the Douala basin in Cameroon, with water depths of up to 60 metres. KF-1 well originally proved two hydrocarbon-bearing reservoirs. Perenco holds a 100% interest in the permit. The production peaked in 2000 at 11,484 bopd. Although these fields yielded only marginal returns at the time of purchase, Perenco has succeeded in developing these assets using an innovative and dynamic strategy including:
- Use of light surface facilities for more efficient, economical extraction
- Installation of a former jack-up production platform with six wellheads
- Installation of a storage tanker (70,000 DWT) adjacent to the platform
