Project Profile

Location: Daru Island, across the Gulf of Papua from Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea
Capacity: 2X2 Mtpa of LNG
Length: 400 kilometres (pipeline)
Start-up Year: late 2015 to early 2016

Horizon is currently planning to build an LNG plant that should be located on the Daru Island for overseas shipments. The Daru LNG plant should be supplied in natural gas by a 400 kilometres pipeline coming from Kianga. Talisman and others would link by open access pipeline a number of stranded wet and dry gas discoveries in Papua New Guinea\'s Western Province and build the LNG liquefaction plant at Daru, across the Gulf of Papua from Port Moresby. Depending on the development of the new licensed prospects, the pipeline could be extended with a section from PPL 373 to connect in Douglas. Horizon and its partners, Osaka Gas, Talisman, Mitsubishi, Kina Petroleum and Mega Fortune expect to start the commercial production of the plant in late 2015 to early 2016. For the Daru LNG facility, a bargemounted facility of 2X2 Mtpa is the most likely scenario.
