The Karratha Gas Plant is one of the most advanced integrated gas production systems in the world, where LNG, domestic gas, condensate and LPG is produced. Located 1,260 kilometres north of Perth, Western Australia, the plant covers about 200 hectares and includes: five LNG processing trains, two domestic gas trains, six condensate stabilisation units, three LPG fractionation units and storage and loading facilities for LNG, LPG and condensate. The plant has the capacity to produce 16.3 million tonnes per year of LNG, 12,000 tonnes (approximately 600 terajoules) per day of domestic gas and 130,000 barrels per day of condensate. Up to 3,000 tonnes per day of LPG is produced, most of which is stored in a 52,000m3 propane tank and a 65,000m3 butane tank for refrigerated export. North West Shelf Venture includes six companies: Woodside Energy, Shell Development (Australia), BHP Petroleum (North West Shelf), BP Developments Australia, Chevron Australia and Japan Australia LNG (MIMI), each owning an equal share.
