Project Profile

Location: Queensland’s onshore Surat basin
Reserves: Walloon Coal Measures within ATP771P (Juandah coal seams + Taroom coal seams)
Gross 2P Certified reserves = 100.9 PJ
Gross 3P Certified reserves = 197.4 PJ

Senex holds a 45% operated stake in ATP 771, with Bow Energy, which is owned by a joint venture between PetroChina and Shell called Arrow Energy, holding the remaining 55% interest.

The Don Juan field is 15 km from an open access pipeline offering the potential to supply both domestic and export gas markets.

Drill stem testing indicated good to excellent permeability in both the Juandah and Taroom coal seams, including free gas from several wells with one well free flowing gas at a stabilised rate of 370,000 cubic feet per day during a flow test period.

All certified reserves to date are within ATP 771P. The Don Juan CSG project includes ATP 771P and ATP 593P and is located in the western Surat Basin about 40 kilometres north of Roma, adjacent to and west of Sunshine Gas Ltd’s (part of the British Gas Group) Lacerta CSG field. The Lacerta CSG field has certified gas reserves of 469 PJs of 2P and 1,097 PJs of 3P. The Joint Venture interprets the Don Juan CSG field to be a westerly extension of the Lacerta gas field.
