Project Profile

Value: Undisclosed
Location: South of the Walvis Ridge offshore Namibia
Area: 17,384 sq km
Potential Reserve: Unknown

The Luderitz Basin is one of three under-explored sedimentary basins lying south of the Walvis Ridge offshore Namibia. Blocks 2512A, 2513A, 2513B and 2612A (part) lie wholly within the Basin and cover an area of 17,384 square kilometres. Three large four-way dip-closed structures (prospects A, B and C) have been identified in the blocks each with mapped closures well in excess of 100 square kilometres. The Prospects each have stacked reservoir potential at Palaeocene, Lower Cretaceous and Upper Cretaceous levels. In addition, there are identified leads with potential for trapping significant hydrocarbon volumes in stratigraphic pinch-outs towards the shelf margin in the east of the licence.

During the initial four-year exploration period of the Licence Serica will conduct an extensive 3D seismic survey and undertake reprocessing of existing 2D seismic data whilst also evaluating opportunities to bring forward early drilling of the large prospects already identified.
