AC/P53 - Ashmore Cartier is an oil and gas exploartion permit located in Ashmore Cartier region of the Timor Sea (Vulcan sub-basin), Australia. AC/P53 was awarded to MEO in 2011 through the Australian 2010 Offshore Petroleum Acreage Release. The permit has an area of approximately 964km2 and is held 100% by MEO Australia.
In January 2012 MEO Australia Limited had signed contract with CGGVeritas Services SA for the acquisition of three marine seismic surveys including 170 line km long-offset 2D seismic in exploration permit AC/P53 and two separate 3D surveys totalling 1,108 km2 across exploration permits AC/P50 and AC/P51 (507 km2) and WA-454-P (601 km2) offshore northern Australia. After the acquisition of the seismic surveys, MEO evaluated the potential of the blocks. The blocks were on trend with a range of existing oil and gas discoveries and production fields (eg Jabiru/Challis, Montara).
