Location: PEP38219, South Otago
PEP38219 (Kaitangata) is a 1,114km2 permit located within South Otago, approximately 70km south of Dunedin. The area is well known for gas occurrences and was the site for a major mine explosion in 1870, Prior to L&M Energy acquiring the permit, in excess of 500 coal exploration wells have been drilled in the area resulting in significant dataset which is available to the company. An exploration programme for the area is currently being prepared to further investigate the coal seam gas resource potential within the permit.
Prior to L&M acquiring the permit, 500 coal exploration wells were drilled within the area.
