Project Profile

Location: Canning Basin
Potential Probable Reserves: 200 billion cubic feet of recoverable gas
Peak Production: 4,000 b/d
Area: 530,000 sq km

Ungani-1 is testing highly prospective conventional and unconventional gas and condensate targets in the Laurel Formation. Ungani-1 has the potential to hold more than 200 billion cubic feet of recoverable gas on a proven plus probable basis. The Canning Superbasin is the largest sedimentary basin in Western Australia covering an area of some 530,000 square kilometres. It is one of the few remaining areas in onshore Australia which is under explored for petroleum and it has geological similarities with highly productive Palaeozoic Basins worldwide. The exploration economics of the Canning Superbasin have been enhanced by sustained high oil prices and increased demand and prices for domestic gas in Western Australia.
