Project Profile
Value: US$18.5 billion
Start-up Year: Train 1 - September 2015, Train 2 - March 2016
LNG: 7.8 million tonne/year
Location: Gladstone, Curtis Island, Queensland
The Gladstone LNG project is a two-train 7.8 million tonnes per annum LNG processing plant and associated infrastructure. The facility will involve a single processing train, the budget for which will include an upstream development, liquefaction plant and associated infrastructure. The gas supply of 170 to 220 petajoules per year will be sourced from the Santos operated Bowen and Surat CSG fields.
The proposed second train looks to follow 12 months after the completion of the first train. This way the trains will be built back to back with significant cost reductions in construction of train 2. The gas for the second train will come mainly from Santos\'s eastern Australia gas interests, with the existing Cooper Basin 2P reserves being the primary supply source.
The project will also see the construction of a 42 inch 420-kilometre gas transmission pipeline will transport CBM from the existing and future fields in the Roma, Fairview and Arcadia Valley areas to Gladstone.
The Final Investment Decision was taken on 13 January 2011. Production from the first train commenced in September 2015 and from Train 2 in March 2016.
