The Wheatstone facility is expected to have a capacity to produce up to 25mtpa of LNG. The initial phase is expected to have a capacity of 8.6mtpa LNG, with the final investment decision to be announced in 2011. Gas will be processed at an onshore facility located at Ashburton North, 12km west of onslow in Western Australia’s Pilbara region. The foundation project will include two LNG trains with a combined capacity of 8.9 million tonnes per year and a domestic gas plant. Woodside Energy (13%) and Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Company (7%) have signed deals to become equity participants in Wheatstone Project. The first two LNG trains will be supplied with gas from the Chevron operated Wheatstone & Iago fields. Apache and KUFPEC will bring gas to Wheatstone from their Julimar and Brunello fields.

Civmec: Contract for the fabrication and testing of 68 subsea jumper spools for the Chevron-operated Wheatstone Project. This contract consists of the fabrication of pipe spools of various materials such as CRA Inconel clad pipe, Super Duplex and carbon steel with pipe sizes ranging from 6 inch up to 44 inch in diameter.
ATCO Structures & Logistics: Additional scope to design, manufacture and install 435 modular units under its current agreement with Bechtel . The additional work is valued at an estimated US$110 million, and will commence in March 2015 with an expected completion in late 2015. This additional work is the fourth major contract supporting liquefied natural gas projects in Australia, spanning both the resource-rich east and west coasts.
Atwood Oceanics: Drilling contract for its semisubmersible drilling unit, the Atwood Osprey. Atwood Osprey parted several mooring lines and drifted approximately three nautical miles from its original position during Cyclone Olwyn, which impacted the northwest coast of Australia on March 12, 2015. The duration of the force majeure event and resultant repairs necessitated by the damage incurred from the cyclone have triggered termination rights in relation to which Chevron and Atwood Oceanics have agreed to a reduction in the term of the contract by one year with contractual rates remaining unchanged. It is expected that repairs for damage sustained by the rig and required regulatory approvals will be completed by April 30th 2015.
