Project Profile
Location: WA-285-P permit, Browse Basin, Australia
Value: US$25.9 billion (US$37 billion onshore & offshore)
Water Depth: 280 m
Reserves: 527 million boe (condensate)
Reserves: 363 bcm (gas)
LNG capacity: 8.9 million tonnes per year
Discovery Year: 2000
Start-up Year: July 2018
The project includes the onshore LNG portion, which involves the construction of an LNG plant with capacity of 8 million-tonne per annum. The offshore facilities include a semi-submersible production platform and a 42-in 860-km trunkline will run from the planned semi-submersible central processing facility (CPF) to the onshore production facility (OPF) in Darwin for LNG production and storage.
Ichthys lies 440km north of Broome. Reserves for the Ichthys field now stand at 12.8 tcf (363 bcm) of gas and 527m bbl of condensate. INPEX has raised the annual LNG production capacity by approximately 6% to 8.9 mtpa from the initially planned 8.4 mtpa.
The gas from the Ichthys field would be processed at an onshore plant at Blaydin Point. The topsides will weigh some 53,000 tonnes and each leg measuring 163 square metres. The deck of the semisub would be installed atop a 34,000-tonne hull using the float over technique. The FPSO will likely have a 35,000-tonne deck designed to handle up to 85,000 bpd of condensate and store 1.2 million barrels. The gas and condensate from up to 50 subsea wells will be sent to the semisub, with the gas exported to shore and condensate sent to the nearby FPSO. A separate group of subsea wells will also feed the FPSO which will send gas to the semisub.
