Project Profile

Location: Southeastern part of Naga lake, South Republic of Congo
Area: 2,830 sq km

The La Noumbi permit lies adjacent to - and on trend with - the large onshore producing M\'Boundi field, on the southeaster part of the Naga lake, in Republic of Congo.

The working petroleum system proved by the Tie‐Tie‐1 exploration well, which flowed circa 1,600 bopd and the Doungou-1 exploration well in 2007. Several wells have been drilled on the block with good oil shows and/or oil produced on test. These wells were drilled without the benefit of modern good quality seismic data. Identified traps are structures with 4 way dip closures or more common 3 way dip against basin parallel normal faults.

The 2009 work program involved a 2D seismic reprocessing and Tie-Tie Updip well (87 mmboe gross 2P) + 1 or 2 contingent wells. Following interpretation of depth processed 2D data on the block, two prospects have been identified and the operator has proposed drilling these in late 2012. In 2015, following completion of drilling operations at Kola-1 and Kola-2 in 2013, the partnership agreed to a 50% relinquishment of the block and is discussing a possible forward work programme.
