Vopak has taken over as operator of the Bahia Las Minas oil product storage terminal in Panama. Chevron remains the owner. A refinery at the site remains closed and there are no plans as yet to redeploy it. Vopak will build new capacity for clean petroleum products and fuel oil storage amounting to a total capacity of 360,000 cubic metres. The project already has all the necessary permits and licences, and construction is expected to start at short notice. The terminal has a current total capacity of around 500,000 cubic metres and stores clean petroleum products, fuel oil, asphalt and LPG. It also operates a jetty for storage vessels and barges.
