Project Profile
Potential reserves: Up to 51 million barrels of oil
Location: 36 km from Paraiso, a port in Gulf coast state of Tabasco
Exploration start-up: 11.10.16
The Jetsil-1 exploratory well is located 36 km from Paraiso, a port in Gulf coast state of Tabasco near producing infrastructure. It is within a 7 km radius of two existing wells, Kab-101 and Citam-1 that produce 5,000-8,000 bpd of crude respectively. The Jetsil well could hold up to 51 million barrels of oil. The well development is part of a larger project called Chalabil that encompasses ten blocks in the shallow waters of the Gulf of Mexico. Pemex has identified the project, which is in the AE-0018-Okom-01 Block, as medium risk. The company retained the block in the Round Zero tender held in August 2014. It was a reverse tender in which Pemex formally committed to a three-year development plan for the well. The well comes under the company’s policy of seeking to tap prospects that are extensions of geological formations that are well understood.
