Project Profile

Value: Undisclosed
Location: Mississippi Canyon block 26, USA
Reserves: unknown
Production: 60-80 barrels of liquids per million cubic foot of natural gas (test)
Start-up Year: -

Stone Energy Corporation announced exploration discovery at its deep water Amethyst prospects. The deep water Amethyst exploration well in Mississippi Canyon block 26 encountered approximately 90 feet of net hydrocarbon pay in one interval, which suggests a commercial discovery. Analysis of logging, coring and fluid data confirmed the existence of natural gas, condensate and natural gas liquids in the pay zone (an estimated yield of 60-80 barrels of liquids per million cubic foot of natural gas). The interval has been placed safely behind pipe for a future completion. A full evaluation, including seismic and subsurface data integration, is needed before hydrocarbon quantities can be estimated and a specific development plan is sanctioned. A single or multi-well tie-back to Stone\'s 100 percent owned Pompano platform, located less than 5 miles from the discovery, is a likely development option. The rig remains on location at Amethyst to conduct operations to prepare the wells for future production.

Operators:

Stone Energy Corporation: Operator with 65% interest

Other: 35% interest

Contractors:

Technip: A flexible pipe supply contract and an installation contract for the Amethyst field. The first contract includes the detailed engineering, procurement, fabrication, assembly and testing of a 5-inch production static riser (almost 9 kilometres long) as well as all associated hardware. The second award covers the installation of the pipe as a tieback to the Pompano fixed platform, in approximately 395 metres of water depth. Technip’s operating center in Houston will manage the project which is scheduled to be completed during the second half of 2015The flexible pipe will be manufactured at the Group’s Asiaflex Products plant located in Tanjung Langsat, Malaysia. It will be installed using the Deep Blue, Technip’s deepwater pipelay vessel.

ENSCO: Drilling contract using the ENSCO 8503 to perform completion operations at the Amethyst discovery. The well will be prepared for an initial production test prior to final flowline and umbilical hook up.
