Mafumeira Sul Project (MSP) is located in the southern portion of Block 0, offshore Cabinda province, Republic of Angola. This second stage of the Mafumeira field development, Mafumeira Sul, includes plans for a central processing facility, two wellhead platforms, approximately 75 miles (121 km) of subsea pipelines and 50 wells. The maximum total daily production is expected to reach 110,000 barrels of crude oil and 10,000 barrels of liquefied petroleum gas.
Front-end engineering and design activities continued during 2011, and a final investment decision is expected in third quarter 2012. This work is being performed as part of the provision of infrastructure facilities for the development of the Mafumeira Field, with a majority of the new development in 160 feet of water. This development will include the Central Production Complex (CPC) consisting of three bridge-connected platforms, the Production Processing Platform (PPP), the Living Quarters Platform (LQP), and a Flare Tripod and two remote Wellhead Platforms, Mafumeira Centro and Mafumeira Sul Wellhead Platforms (WHP) and thirteen submarine pipelines and two power cables. The submarine pipeline work scope includes three gas lift pipelines, three water injection pipelines, one gas injection pipeline, three production pipelines, one LPG pipeline, one gas export pipeline and one oil export pipeline to shore.
In May 2010, AMEC was selected by Chevron subsidiary Cabinda Gulf Oil Company Ltd (CABGOC) to perform front-end engineering design (FEED) for a significant portion of the Mafumeira Sul development project. The contract, the value of which has not been announced, run until mid-2011. CTI is performing the Front End Engineering Design (FEED) for the submarine pipelines and subsea tie-in spools, with engineering and project management responsibilities for this project including the Project Management & Interface Coordination between Chevron and EDG.
