Marathon Oil currently holds a 100% working interest in the Madagascar prospect, with the intent to farm down a portion of this acreage. The company expects to retain a 30-50% interest. It is anticipated that the prospect will be tested in 2013 and the well will target the Jurassic age sandstones of the Norphlet formation that have been successfully appraised by Shell at their Appomattox Field 40 miles to the northwest. The well will be drilled in about 8,300 feet of water to a total measured depth of approximately 24,000 feet.
