Enbridge Athabasca is proposing to develop a new crude oil pipeline project, called the Athabasca Pipeline Twinning Project, to provide transportation service for increased oil production in the Kirby Lake area. This new pipeline would generally follow the existing Athabasca Pipeline right-of-way, starting at Kirby Lake Terminal, near Winifred Lake and ending at the existing Battle River Terminal, located in the Hardisty, Alberta crude oil hub area.
As part of the Project, Enbridge Athabasca is proposing to construct:
- A new pump station at our existing Kirby Lake Terminal;
- A new pump station at our existing Bonnyville Station;
- A new pipeline, approximately 345 km in length and 914 mm (36 inches) in diameter, between Enbridge Athabasca’s Kirby Lake Terminal and Battle River Terminal.
Enbridge Athabasca believes in open and transparent communication with all of our stakeholders and communities along the proposed right-of-way. A participant involvement program is planned for the Project to build public awareness and understanding; gather community and stakeholder input and answer questions about the Athabasca Pipeline Twinning Project.
