The Alam El Shawish concession is located in the western desert area of Egypt and is composed of five licences. The production phase began in late 2007 and work is already underway to bring Alam El Shawish gas into production.
Alam El Shawish West original area of 1,025 Km2 was awarded to Vegas as operator (100%) at a bid round in 2005. Vegas currently has a 35% participating interest. The operator is Shell with 40% and the other partner is GDF SUEZ with 25%. Current production is 6,200bpd (oil and condensate) and 100mmscfd.
New natural gas discoveries have been found in a concession area of north Alam El-Shawish in Egypt\'s western desert. Badr el-Din Petroleum Company (JV acting on behalf of the state-owned Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) and Shell in production operations) is expected to manage operations.
