Westlake Chemical Corporation plans to upgrade the ethylene cracking furnaces and the recovery section of its ethylene plant in Calvert City, Kentucky in USA. Technip was awarded the engineering and procurement contracts for the expansion and modernisation of the ethylene cracking furnaces and the recovery section of the plant. The ethylene production capacity will be increased by 40% − from 450 million pounds per year to 630 million pounds per year − and will use ethane feedstock instead of propane as per the original design. Technip’s operating centre in Claremont, California, will execute the work.
