Project Profile
Location: Offshore Nova Scotia
Start-up Year: 2014
Area: 7,000 sq km
Water Depth: 1,500 - 3,500 metres
Shell has filed plans with the Canadian authorities to fast-track a huge 3D seismic survey on frontier acreage off Nova Scotia. The 7,000 sq km shoot will cover licences 2423, 2424, 2425, and 2426 in the Shelburne basin, acreage that the supermajor was awarded on 1 March 2012. The survey work is planned to start in the 2nd or 3rd quarter of 2013 and will be supported from an office in Halifax that Shell plans to open early in 2013. The survey is expected to last at least 65 days, between mid-April 2013 and mid-September 2013, with smaller infill seismic possibly being shot in 2014. The 3D data will be acquired in waters between 1,500 and 3,500 metres deep.
