The Big Bend (OCS-G28022) prospect is located on Mississippi Canyon Block 698 in 2,222 metres of water in the Gulf of Mexico. Noble Energy wholly owns and operates the prospect. Noble Energy acquired the block at the Central Gom Lease Sale No. 206 in March 2008. In October 2009, the operator submitted an EP proposing to drill and complete two wells on the prospect using a dynamically positioned semisubmersible rig. The operator plans to explore the prospect in 2012-2013. The well is targeting oil and gas. Noble Energy is operator with a 54% working interest in Big Bend. W&T Energy VI LLC, a unit of W&T Offshore Inc., has 20%, Red Willow Offshore LLC 15.4%, and Houston Energy Deepwater Ventures V LLC 10.6%. In October 2015, Noble Energy Inc. started oil production from the Big Bend field development. The single-well field is ramping as expected and is anticipated to reach a maximum gross production rate of about 20,000 boe/d. Approximately 90% of the volumes being produced are oil.
