Area: 120 acres
Gorham Oil Project, located in Smoky Hills region of the Great Plains, Russell County, north-central Kansas, in USA, is a lease covering 120 acres of two oil-bearing formations suitable for redevelopment. Three wells had been drilled and produced in the early 1980’s and abandoned due to then falling crude oil prices. Their logs show several prospective zones, some of which were tested while others were not. The Gorham Field has produced till 2010 over 98 million barrels of oil, yet geologic mapping shows potential for considerable expansion as well as missed opportunities within the field.
