The Big Bend prospect is located on Mississippi Canyon Block 697 in roughly 7,149 feet (2,179 metres) of water 135 miles (217 kilometres) from Fourchon, Louisiana. Petrobras America serves as the operator and holds a 50% interest; Red Willow holds a 42.5% interest; and Houston Energy 7.5% holds the remaining interest. In an IEP submitted to MMS on Oct. 1, 2009, the operator proposes to drill, complete, test and temporary abandon three well locations, E, F and H, on the prospect. Upon subject of approval, drilling should commence in 2010 and will be targeting oil and gas.
