Halcon Resources Corp. plans to drill between four and six wells into the Utica shale in eastern Ohio and western Pennsylvania in late 2012. The first two wells will be spud in October 2012. The firm has about 130,000 net acres in Trumbull and Mahoning counties in Ohio and Mercer, Venango and Crawford counties in Pennsylvania.
The first production from the Utica wells is expected in the first quarter of 2013. That is due to infrastructure needs and company plans to shut in the wells for 60 days to maximise recovery.
