The Caribou Gas Complex is located in British Columbia, approximately 170 kilometres northwest of the city of Fort Saint John. Plant facilities include inlet separation, gas sweetening, NGL recovery, condensate stabilisation, compression and acid gas injection. The plant receives its raw gas from numerous wells connected by an extensive network of pipelines. The completion of the 48 kilometre Caribou North gas gathering system increased the capture area of the Caribou gas plant by approximately 1,000 square kilometres. The raw gas inlet capacity is 1,831 103m3/day, while the acid gas disposal capacity is 69 103m3/day. The complex was uilt in 1997 by Novagas Clearinghouse and was purchased by Keyera in 2004.
In 2006, Keyera invested US$23 million to expand the plant to its current capacity and built the Caribou North Gas Gathering System to capture shut in gas north of the Buckinghorse River. In 2008, Keyera installed a 23 kilometre extension to the Caribou North Gas Gathering System. The Caribou Gas Plant undergoes a major turnaround every four years, with the next scheduled to take place in 2014.
